Watermill Walks with Jo Carter
Jo Carter had been exploring the Sierra de Grazalema for 13 years when 5 years
ago she started guiding clients on the numerous beautiful walks she had
discovered. The name ‘Watermill Walks’ comes from one of the most popular routes
you can do. It explores a lush valley east of Grazalema dotted with traditional
farmsteads (‘fincas’), olive and almond groves and of course, watermills! The
routes vary a lot, however. You could choose to walk high up in the rocky
limestone landscape, perhaps as high as the largest peak in Cádiz, at 1654m. All
walks start from Grazalema but often end in another of the white villages...
this gs you a ivechance to see other villages and sample tapas in other bars!
A day´s guided walking costs 66 € (for up to 4 people)
Larger groups may have to pay some extra transport costs, depending on the walk
you choose
Choose a personalised programme of a wonderful week´s hiking in the mountains
and valleys of Grazalema Natural Park. Depending on how strenuous (or not!) you
would like your week, a package of 5 days walking can be put together.
This is an exellent opportunity to explore the park, from it´s dramatic
limestone peaks to its cork-oak wooded valleys and flower-covered meadows. Jo
will help you identify the local trees, flower and birdlife (and maybe even the
infamously shy ´cabra montesa´or Ibex.) Walks will be on average 15km, but you
need to bear in mind the often rough ground and the heat, depending on the time
of year.
